Two Victims Named in the Providence Campus Attack as Police Persist in Manhunt for Gunman.

Two students who were killed in the recent tragic incident on the university campus were being remembered Monday – as a manhunt for their assailant continued following the release by Rhode Island officials of the single suspect questioned in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a gathering on Sunday.

She served as the vice-presidency of Brown’s division of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also posted words of sorrow on social media, saying in part: “There are no words. Remembering her kin and peers, especially her parents.”

An International Student

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his first year of studies at the Ivy League university, according to relatives.

Umurzokov’s identity was confirmed by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. His ambitions were lofty of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sibling Samira said in a memorial statement.

The Shooting Incident

Nine other people were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Law enforcement reported by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-old male arrested in a police operation at a hotel about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“We have a murderer out there,” declared Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and head another way, and this is precisely what occurred over the last day or so.”

Community Anxiety

The shooter opened fire inside a classroom in the building on Saturday, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun, a law enforcement official reported to the news agency.

Police that searched the lodging recovered two handguns and two ammunition clips when the person of interest was taken into custody, as was reported.

The Wounded Victims

Regarding the nine injured, one student was discharged from care, said the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in serious yet stable state, and one was in critical condition, authorities stated on Sunday.
