Passionate fans of the pop star are urging that a person who leaped a fence and seized the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating footage shows the Australian man pushing past camera operators and lunging at Grande while the cast walked down a event pathway accompanied by onlookers.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly pulled the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the event by guards.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being detained", though court documents showed that he was set to be present on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was charged.
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a performance. His Instagram feed includes videos of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney performance in earlier this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last winter.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," commented an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" one Instagram user wrote.
Numerous followers accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing PTSD after a devastating incident at the finale of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and wounding many.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" said a further comment on Instagram.
Some fans also criticised guards at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while others requested social media platforms to block Mr Wen's content.
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande appeared shocked when she was grabbed by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.
Many of supporters had congregated in a mass of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it commenced.
The film, to be premiered on 21 November, is the follow-up of a dual version of the popular theatrical show Wicked, which centers on the surprising bond between two distinct sorceresses.
The production itself is a spin-off of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a rosé sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and scored 10 Academy Award nods, winning a pair for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
