Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and presented the first table of heroes who will separate from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the team access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This results in them no alternative but to head to the remote area in search of Casimir.
Future Episodes
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight players to form the Questers and Strategists parties.
Fans can look forward to discovering which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
