Arne Slot acknowledged that it's understandable for concerns to be asked about his position after a further heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.
The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, marking the club's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.
They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at their home ground.
“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from the top,” Slot commented.
“It would be nice to turn it around and secure a win naturally but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that doubts arise.”
He added, “I accept my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we turned it around.”
When asked to expand on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:
“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they back me.”
He mentioned, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so let’s see.”
The manager expressed regret over known failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.
Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the current crisis.
“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder said.
“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”
He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”
“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a spell such as this with results so bad.”
Jones stated, “But we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until it is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”
“We will attempt to bring this squad return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”
“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
